Matt's Cool and Interesting Blog of The New Millennium

Robot Chicken

I've been watching the new Adult Swim show, Robot Chicken, and I have to say that I'm impressed. It's funny and the animation of action figures used to create it is very fluid. All in all, I'm surprised it's at all decent after some episodes of Tom Goes to the Mayor I have seen.

I award it both the adjectives cool and interesting.

Bbbbback!

Back to school tomorrow.

Journey to The Rooted Hold

I'm excited, because the good people who bought us Deadly Rooms of Death are working on a sequel, Journey to the Rooted Hold. Read all about it.

Meanwhile, I'm going to beat the ninth level of DROD.

So far...

This break I have played all too much DROD. Unfortunately, however, I have stopped Kingdom of Loathing, so I'll probably be giving my stuff away soon. If anyone needs anything in particular, let me know, otherwise I'll give it out as I see fit.

Fisching

I've been reading about Bobby Fischer this evening, and I am completely fascinated. Aside from being a chess god, he seems incredibly fanatical over his unorthodox beliefs. I'd like to be able to get into his head and really get his thoughts on the things he has believed in his life.

The article on Wikipedia is quite good.
His personal site is also revealing, although a bit unfiltered.

Dogs

This Dogblog is one of the funniest things I've read. I know that you're thinking that a dogblog sounds decidedly unfunny, but you are wrong.

Random Game I Like #54: Dark Cloud 2

I started playing Dark Cloud 2 recently, and it was quite surprising. Actually, it wasn't surprising at all. You see, I believe in this awful self-fulfilling destiny of game sequels. The sequel of a game never really seems to improves over the original.

The original Dark Cloud was painful.

To begin with, it was slow. Characters often needed to be changed mid-dungeon and that resulted in a 15 second character change movie. It was hard too, but not in a satisfying way. If I lost it wasn't due to me getting beaten up in a fair fight. Instead it was something mundane that defeated me, like running out of water, or breaking all of my weapons. Dark Cloud also had this terrible visual style. When some polygons were animated, it looked at best unnatural and at worst excruciatingly unnatural.

Dark Cloud 2 fixed these things. The game is faster. No longer are weapon repair powders rare. My characters don't need to drink. Best of all, everything is rendered well in cell-shading.

Dark Cloud 2 is a good game.

Home

I'm at home now, so if you're around Reading and want to chill-chill, let me know.

Today

There is a new Fine Art in existence. Also, in the spirit of the last post it is hand-drawn. As you can also see, it is poorly hand drawn. Some bad news though is that I won't have access to my computer next week, so Fine Art will return the 16th of March. The comic will not be hand-drawn, I promise

Also in the spirit of the last post, is this random comic:
BOOM
This comic is based on a true story. Well, not the shotgun part. Also, some of you may recognize the character as Lord Blobbo of the Court of the Rose from Matt's Random Comics.

Drawing

I think I'm going to learn to draw over spring break. Drawing would be fun. Maybe I'll buy one of those pen-pad things for the PC. Then I wouldn't have to get any other drawing materials.

Spring break starts Thursday, so, who knows if you'll be hearing from me much over the following week. Anyway, here's a well-drawn comic: Daisy Kutter the Last Train.
