Rutan wins X-prize

Burt Rutan won the X-prize with the SpaceShipOne. The 10 million dollar award was to be awarded to the first private group to launch a shuttle into space twice in one week.

This is so important, because it marks the first step towards privatization of a space industry which could lead to huge developments in science and exploration of the world outside of our world. Furthermore, it might put some pressure on the government to increase funding of NASA.

I think a new X-prize should be made for the first group to successfully complete a manned orbit.

On another note, sorry for John Carmack, developer of the Doom games, who must have been spending too much time on Doom 3 to get his spaceship done in time.

Random Game I Like #38: Dork Tower - The Game

I purchased the [link=http://www.sjgames.com/dorktower/ ]Dork Tower Board Game Today[/link] and played it, and it was really good. It took pretty long, but it was a lot of fun. Check it out.

Wooo!

I'm finally going to see the third Harry Potter tonight! Wooo!

Random Game I Like #37: Anachronox

Ancachronox is a cool console style RPG that was released with little fanfare for the PC a couple of years ago. It's definitely worth looking into, and I'm going to play it right now.

Thursdays

I know that I've complained about this before, but my Thurrsdays are bad. They are about three times longer that other days, and take about three days ahead of time to prepare for. Also, each Thursday seems about 10 times harder than each previous Thursday. It's bad, but I made it through this week... just barely.

Go Burt Rutan!

A keep on rokin' goes out to Burt Rutan, designer of X-prize chasing SpaceShipOne, who just successfully landed a test run. Read the full story here.

Video Game Woes

For the past couple days, I've become more and more convinced that there aren't any recent, good, non-sequel, mainstream, purely single-player games for the P.C. that aren't realtime strategy or first person shooters. I know that's a lot of reqirements, but I want someone to prove me wrong. Anyone want to try?

Yet More Comic Character Descriptions

Finally another real update!

Here are the rest of the characters in the normal version of Matt's Random Comics, as of right now. I have a few more characters to add soon, but I've been pretty busy.

Sunny
Happy Sunny! Not so happy Sunny!
The sun that gazes down over Aquila Beta. He has multiple personalities, and eyebrows to match. According my calculations, he can be seen talking to himself with probablity 1/2(N)(N-1), where N is the total number of character pictures.

Fritz and Chuck Chalk
I thought I was being helpful!
Me too!
The professor's two not-so-helpful assistants. If they spent half as much time figuring out how to get them back to Earth as they did goofing around...well, they'd probably still be stuck.

The Moon
You know, she has, ummm, periods...
Aquila Beta's only natural satellite. She can be a bit moody.

Lord Blobbo of the Court of the Rose
He
Putting the fop back in foppish, Lord Blobbo rules Blobsylvania, the largest society on Aquila Beta, with style.

Dongolo
Imagine if you saw a bird that was as big as an ostrich and green. Pretty scary, huh?
A bird as big as an ostrich and green. Pretty scary, huh?

Earthrock 108.9
Keep on rokin!
Since the travellers went faster than the speed of light in their escape from Earth, the Hatkids radio still picks up signals from Earthrock 108.9. Unfortunately these broadcasts took place 20 years ago.

Beelzelbub
Ew gross!
"'You knew, didn't you? I'm part of you? Close, close, close! I'm the reason why it's no go? Why things are what they are?'"

Bleeblob
He
Bleeblob is a purely good individual in Blobsylvania, he practices justice, temperance, honesty, courage, and niceness. Everybody respects him.

Bloblee
After I met Bleeblob, Bloblee beat me up and took my car keys.
Bloblee is a purely evil individual in Blobsylvania, he practices injustice, hedonism, compulsive lying, cowardiceness, and meanness. Everybody fears him.

That's it for now. The next batch of characters should go live sometime during this week. Enjoy!

Bad Settings

My computer has been running poorly for a while now. I checked the BIOS the other day and found that a bunch of settings were really wrong. It really embarrases me cause I feel like I ought to have a handle on what my computer is doing. Anyway, I fixed the issues and now my computer is running better. Yay.
