Rutan wins X-prize

Burt Rutan won the X-prize with the SpaceShipOne. The 10 million dollar award was to be awarded to the first private group to launch a shuttle into space twice in one week.

This is so important, because it marks the first step towards privatization of a space industry which could lead to huge developments in science and exploration of the world outside of our world. Furthermore, it might put some pressure on the government to increase funding of NASA.

I think a new X-prize should be made for the first group to successfully complete a manned orbit.

On another note, sorry for John Carmack, developer of the Doom games, who must have been spending too much time on Doom 3 to get his spaceship done in time.

Comment Now that the Ansari X Prize has been won, he should spend his money trying to build that gun which shot the huge green ball of energy and killed lots of demons, especially the ugly floating kind with one eye. They were nasty

Comment It's just as well that John Carmack didn't get it. His spaceship probably would have opened up a portal to Hell and killed everyone aboard. Except for the guy with multiple lives and unlimited continues.
