Metal Gear Solid 3 is an unusual game for me. I liked the first two Metal Gear Solid games (the ones on Sony consoles). But when I first played MGS3, I was really dissappointed. The jungle and older technology (it's a prequel) kind of made it harder. No longer could I navigate almost exclusively by my motion detector and easily just walk around my opponents. I was getting seen and occasionally killed! What was going on?
After I played more, I realized that was the point. This isn't the sleek, futuristic. Snake you're used to. This is a game of survival espionage, and in this aspect the game succeeds brilliantly. Dodging enemies requires forethought and scouting. Combat is closer and more fierce. You have to catch food and take care of yourself with first aid.
It does all of this and yet it remains a game that captures much of the feel of the other Metal Gear games. The bosses are ridiculous, each with some superpowers and requiring some specific strategy and headscratching to overcome. The story maintains the level of ludicrousness evoked in the other games in the series.
Metal Gear Solid 3 surprised me. See it for yourself.
For only $277 right now, you can own a piece of history: memorabilia from when Michael Badnarik crossed police line's at the presidential debate. Unfortunately the auction has now ended.
So here is the first incarnation of the dungeon. Check it out. It will be updated today probably.
Also, if anyone knows any companies looking for sophomore Computer Engineering interns, let me know! I need an internship badly.
I'm working on a web-dungeon. Don't know what a web-dungeon is? That's ok, because I think I just made it up. But just wait. Sometime you will be in it and impressed.
Also, have you heard that a new Fine Art has been made? You should probably check it out.
I got a nice email today, but I'm not sure it's for me. Here it is:

Sure I'd like to look young like Oprah, but I really don't think I should pursue this, because my name's not Matt Ferrari. I heard that HGH is so good it makes your fingernails into pure gold, ready for smelting for jewelry or direct market sale!
This is cool, check it out. Remember, the next Fine Art episode is to be released Friday!
I promised a review, but I don't really feel like writing one. Well, I guess I'll write something...
The Life Aquatic was pretty good. It definitely had its moments. See it for yourself.
I guess that's not a very good review but that's what you're getting.
I just wrote tomorrow's Fine Art. It's pretty good, if I do say so myself.
The Bringing the Funny shortbread recipients are up on Websnark and definitely need to be checked out if you have any interest in webcomics or humor in general. Eric Burns deserves some shortbread for compiling such an incredible, massive list.
Phantom Brave is the second game by my favorite new developer, Nippon Ichi that I have played, the first being the incredible Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. It's hard to talk about Phantom Brave without invoking Disgaea, so I won't even try to avoid it.
Phantom Brave is in some ways better and some ways worse than Disgaea. First, the bad: It's not as funny as Disgaea. One thing that I can say about Disgaea with absolute certainty is that it was a funny game. So far Phantom Brave doesn't have that. What it does have, though is an interesting plot and a revamped battle and character system.
The battle system is great. First it does away with the grid system, a standard in tactical RPGs. Your characters can move anywhere they want on the battlefield. In itself this makes little difference, however it enables a new gimmick in which anything on the battlefield can be wielded. This wielding system assists character development (not in a literary sense) as skills are earned from items. Each character can only have one item at a time, however items move around the battlefield so fluidly and often that all kinds of tactical opportunities arise, such as having your healer toss her staff, grab a bush, and attack with a leaf based move.
The art is great too. I think it might just be me, but I'd rather have sprites any day over rendered objects.
Phantom Brave is great. Try it.
The new fine art is up.. The next update will be Wednesday, because I think I'm going to stick to a Wednesday, Friday, Sunday schedule.
I need to stop recompressing graphics from previous strips. They're getting blurry.
I'll have a new random game I like tomorrow. Possibly a movie revue for The Life Aquatic, and definitely and real review or hinting of my feelings toward the film will be written on Tuesday.
As a result, keep in touch,
In conclusion have a good tomorrow.
Also this is cool, read it.
