The Rest of the Story: Today's Little Known Information
By: Nathan Hogan, Assoc. Press
Members of the band Matchbox 20 were actually avid participants in their respective high school chemistry clubs. Lead singer Rob Thomas remarked, "I always enjoyed the reactions and stoichiometry involved. My hot chemistry teacher always said we would go places with chemistry, but later I realized that it wasn't chemisty, but rather rock and roll that would be the precipitate of success formed by combining myself and my rockin pals in an equation of expertly produced songs and one note guitar solos."
Incidently the song "Bent" reflects back on their passion for chemistry and actually tells the story of a lonely Ozone molecule with trigonal planar structure. This song was based off their little known original demo called "Hybridization" which had the foundation but lacked some of the creativity later found in Bent. It never really clicked with the record labels, and after editing out some of the more technical aspects and chemical terminology, the band found a hit. i love matt.
what the fuck was that, nate?
Wow that's funny. Especially if you know things about music. Unfortunately I don't. Oh well. Yeah, I'd like to again point out here that this is the opinion of Nate Hogan and not Matt Fister. If you have a strong opinion such as "I hate Matchbox 20" or "I love Matchbox 20" Please don't bother me; bother Nate. This goes for those of you with strong opinions about chemistry too.
