Matt's Cool and Interesting Blog of The New Millennium

A new game is in the works

Me and my team of highly competant individuals are working on a computer game. It will feature 3d graphics (think final fantasy tactics) and an emphasis on strategy that, I believe, will make it better than chess. The basic idea is indirect control. I'll keep you updated here.

Once more...

Part two of part two of the Chicago Travelogue Saga is being written in my away messages. Remember, my AIM name is "then mattf says" . So... enjoy!

Random Game I Like #21: Galactic Civilizations

This is a 4x game (you know, where you try to take over space) that's done well. It's not overly complex like the new Master of Orion, yet, it has enough subtleties to make it interesting and fun to play.

In other news, I just finished what was possibly one of the busiest weeks ever, and thankfully due to carnival the next two weeks are pretty light. Then finals are coming though...

I Keep Liking My Title More and More

Now I'm number three on Google for "really cool and interesting". Now that is really cool and interesting.

Random Games I Like #19 and #20: Deadly Rooms of Death and Head over Heels

Wow, I'm up to 20 of these already!? I guess I like a lot of games.

The two games I'm reviewing today are freeware, which, if you don't know, means you can download them for free. Which is a good plan for everyone (except maybe people who want to make money for their work).

Any the first game is Deadly Rooms of Death. This is a puzzle game in which you are in exterminator called in to rid a dungeon of roaches, evil eyes, wraith-wings, tar-monsters, serpents, and goblins. I don't know how many people know what I'm talking about, but it's kind of like Chip;s Challenge. This one you definitely have to play.

The next game is Head over Heels. This is a remake of a Spectrum gamem and it is quite good. It plays kind of like an isometric version of The Lost Vikings, but it has a couple of flaws, including incredible amounts of difficulty. It's still worth playing though.

Anyway, I guess my next milestone will be 50 of these. That's a lot of games.

Holy chocolate bananas

I think I programmed for 20 hours in the last two days. I feel like a CS major, which is kind of true, because I think I want to get a minor in CS.

In other news, I finally bought myself the Space Ghost Coast to Coast DVD, but I don't own a DVD player so I can't watch it. I think I'll run a Space Ghost Marathon over the summer.

Once again, I'm virus free

This time I had "optimize.exe" and a bunch of other adware/viruses assaulting me. I took care of them though.

Movie Review: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

Indeed
This is quite the impressive film. Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet are incredible and build a plot that is edgy and romantic. The two play the members of a badly ended romance. They both decide that it's best to take a radical medical treatment that will erase from their minds all memories of each other. Most of the film takes place in Jim Carrey's mind, where a stream of consciousness technique is used to explore his relationship with Kate Winslet. This film is provocative and entertaining to the point in which after seeing it, I wanted to immediately see it again.

Random Game I Like #18: Dink Smallwood

This is an independent (now free-ware) game by developer Robinon technologies. Hilarious humor combines with bizarre gameplay makes this one RPG to try. After all, it's free!

Random Game I Don't Like #1: Endgame

A friend and I just ordered PS2 lightguns, and we looked forward to playing this two player Time Crisis ripoff. It's so bad that we couldn't even find a two-player mode. This is one game to avoid. Do, however, play Point Blank 2. In comparison to Endgame, it really shows you how little graphics matter (not to say that Endgame has good graphics).
